Taylor and Troy’s Sunny Day at the martin johnson house

When you think of the Martin Johnson House, you think of the Scripps Pier, the glittering blue water and the son coming through the cypress trees. And if you’re lucky and the weather is perfect like this day, you’ll also see the hang gliders out and about from nearby Torrey Pines Gilderport.

The Guild Hotel, originally built in 1916, is a historic oceanfront cottage built on the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD.  Once used as a home for professors and their families, the space now hosts weddings, lectures and social events.

The couple envisioned a festive and polished design, with a buttery palette of yellows, tans, nudes and green.

The Ceremony

The ceremony overlooked the Scripps Pier, with the couples sweet pup Reece in attendance.

The Reception

The reception took place on the adjoining deck, and was comprised of textural florals, a soothing color palette, and stationary designed by the bride herself. Guests enjoyed a tap truck of the couple’s favorite drinks.

Another highlight was the live element of the reception music. To accompany the DJ, live instruments added to the intimate feel of this incredible party. Guests took a quick break to nibble on fresh churros before heading back to the dance floor.

A whimsical, Coastal  celebration

When Taylor came to us with her ideas of buttery yellows, natural tones and soft green hues, we were so excited to help her cultivate an elevated coastal feel. The cheery yellows are such a beautiful reflection of our couple.

Congratulations to Taylor and Troy!
